Artist Recital with Jana Jarkovská and Bohumír Stehlík: Duo du Rêve @ Flutistry Boston

Flutistry Boston is proud to welcome Jana Jarkovská, flutist of Duo du Rêve, to an Artist Recital on Friday, June 9, 2017! Jana is a professor of flute at the Conservatory in Teplice, Czech Republic, a PhD student in Prague and has a passion for contemporary music by Czech composers. Flutist Jana Jarkovská and pianist Bohumír Stehlík have been working together since 2011, forming Duo du Rêve. Together they have won several prestigious international competitions including: Concorso Internazionale di Musica “Città di Chieri”, Pro Musicis International Award in Paris, and “Salieri-Zinetti” International Chamber Music Competition in Italy. About Duo du Rêve:

Flutist Jana Jarkovská and pianist Bohumír Stehlík work together as a duo since 2011. Besides their duo concerts they have participated together in several masterclasses, such as Forum International pour Flûte et Piano in Luxembourg, Sandviken Masterclasses in Sweden and ISA Masterclasses in Austria. Their delicate interplay and stylish interpretation were appreciated in different international competitions – Concorso Internazionale di Musica “Città di Chieri ”, Italy (2012) – 1st prize, Pro Musicis International Award in Paris (2013) – winner, “Salieri-Zinetti” International Chamber Music Competition, Italy (2014) – 3rd prize, ISA Open Awards, Austria (2015) – winner, Val Tidone International Chamber Music Competition, Italy (2016) – 1st prize. Since 2014 they are recording for the Czech Radio. For the season 2016/17 Duo du Rêve is included on the List of Young Artists of the Foundation Czech Music Fund.

About Jana Jarkovská, flute:

Jana Jarkovská (*1983) studied at the Prague Coservatoire under prof. Jan Riedlbauch and at the Academy of performing Arts in Prague under prof. Jiří Válek. In 2010 she also spent a semester within the Erasmus study internship at Conservatorio di Musica “G. Verdi” in Milan, Italy, studying under prof. Simona Valsecchi. In 2012 Jana taught at the same conservatory as an assistant professor. Between 2013 and 2015 she attended a postgraduate interpretation program in Stockholm and nowadays she studies a PhD. program in Prague. Since September 2016 Jana teaches flute at the Conservatory in Teplice, Czech Republic. Besides the traditional flute repertory she increasingly focuses on music by contemporary Czech composers.

About Bohumír Stehlík, piano:

Bohumír Stehlík (*1990 Prague, Czech Republic) started his musical studies at the Music Gymnasium in Prague under Irina Kondratěnko. After one year spent on the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague he came to Sweden, where he studied at Edsberg Music Institute, part of the Royal College of Music in Stockholm and one of the most prestigious Scandinavian music academies under prof. Mats Widlund. Bohumír has won first prizes in a number of solo competitions (e. g. Ljunggrenska tävlingen, Concertino Praga, Virtuosi per Musica di Pianoforte). He has been also awarded many scholarships, recently Swedish National Scholarship 2015. Besides Duo du Rêve he is a member of an international Ensemble D’’Accord. In addition to concert activity Bohumír partly worked as a colaborative piano teacher at the music academy Ingesund at Karlstad University in Sweden. Nowadays he hold the same position at Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Brno.
